Meet the team

Our team do everything they can to be available when you need them and are always happy to offer advice and support. Because it’s always nice to put a face to a name, here are some of our people that make things happen.

Name: Robin Weiss & Alma Read
Position: Managing Directors & Joint Owners

About: Alma & Robin began ALRO Services back in 1986 after moving to Devon from the South East.
Robin had already gained significant experience in the Land Drainage and Groundwork business.
The business soon grew to become recognised as  a leading provider of reliable and effective solutions to Sewage Disposal and in 1993 ALRO Services became one of the country’s first Klargester Certified Installers and has remained so ever since.
Under the direction of Robin & Alma the business has grown from strength to strength year on year.
Now with the benefit of a highly dedicated and motivated management team the directors are now able to take advantage of available leisure time although Robin continues to direct and manage the day to day operations.
 

Name: Francis Read
Position: Service Manager & Business Devolpement

About: Francis joined the company in 1996 as a Site Labourer. Over the years he has continued to progress through the company gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience firsthand in the Design, Installation & Maintainance of Packaged Sewage Treatment Systems.
Noticing a gap in the market, his attentions were soon diverted towards the ongoing maintenance of the systems that ALRO were installing and begun to concentrate his efforts in this direction.  
Francis has a built up a wealth of valuable knowledge and has a particular interest in resolving process and equipment based issues.
The Service Department has now become an integral part of the core business and continues to grow under his direction.
 
 

Name: David Goddard
Position: Senior Engineer (Service)

About: David joined ALRO in 2009

His past experiences consisted of a full Electrical apprenticeship at Ciba-Geigy from 1980-1988 which included everything from fitting basic light and power circuits, to Installation and Fault Finding on Motors and Control Gear, Fire Alarm systems, Intrinsically Safe equipment, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, PLC Systems, Heating/Ventilation and Manufacturing Equipment associated with a major Chemical Factory.
 
He then spent a short stint as a Self Employed Electrician doing 1st and 2nd fix on large housing estates, retirement homes etc. Also shop refits including Plumbing &Floor Laying.
 
In 1999 he took the job of Facilities Manager at a Scientific Equipment Production Company and was in charge of all maintenance and building projects. He also gained a qualification in Health and Safety.


 

Name: Derek Bright
Position: Contracts Manager (Civils)

About: Derek joined the company as contracts manager in 2001, however his working relationship with ALRO dates back to the late 1980's.

As owner and operator of his own Plant and Hire company for over two decades, Derek acquired a wealth of knowledge and experience in drainage and groundworks to draw upon.

Putting these skills to good use, he has since overseen the majority of the largest and most complex projects ALRO has carried-out.

Name: Tom Downes
Position: Part Time Service Department Coordinator

About: Tom is a relative newcomer to ALRO, joining the company in 2013.

With a history including Administration and Customer Service positions, Tom assists the Service Manager and Senior Engineer to ensure smooth running of our Maintenance operations.
